Sinking Spring downtown improvements now at a crossroads

It’s been 15 years since Sinking Spring officials first talked about realigning two crooked intersections on Penn Avenue and constructing a parallel boulevard to create a new, walkable town center.

Until this summer, the only tangible outcome from more than a decade of planning has been the redevelopment of the former Boscov’s department store site. About 15 businesses now occupy Spring Market, a shopping plaza at the southeast corner of Penn Avenue (Route 422) and Shillington Road (Route 724).
